Compress PDF files right inside this browser tab. Your file never leaves your device, so there is nothing to upload and no 200 MB cap. Files over 1 GB work too.
Loading the compressor…
The compressor is a small program (about 1 MB) that your browser downloads once. It reads the PDF right here, in this tab.
Most of a PDF's weight is photos and scans stored sharper than any screen or printer can show. Each one is resized to the sharpness you picked.
Repeated logos and fonts are stored once, hidden thumbnails and editing leftovers are removed, and the new file is checked before you save it.
No. The page downloads the compressor to your browser, and your PDF is read and rewritten on your own device. You can check this yourself: open your browser's network panel while a file is compressing and you will see nothing being sent.
We set no limit. The limit is what a browser tab can hold in memory: files up to about 1.8 GB work in a desktop browser. A 1.1 GB scanned PDF took about four and a half minutes on an ordinary laptop. Phones and tablets have less memory, so very large files may not fit there.
Yes. Text, lines and vector drawings are never blurred, only repacked. The compressor changes pictures and scanned pages, and only when they are stored sharper than the level you chose.
Some PDFs are already compact, for example text-only documents exported from Word. When there is nothing to gain you keep your original file.
Files that need a password to open can't be compressed yet. Remove the password in your PDF reader first, then try again.
